Last night my 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab with the LLY 6.6L Diesel is cruising from a late night at the office in Detroit. I'm heading north on I-75 at about 70mph when all of a sudden the check engine light comes on at the same time the truck looses power like it ran out of fuel but its still running. I turn on the hazards and move to the slow lane (even though not too much traffic at midnight but I am on the outskirts of Detroit, one of the top 5 cities for most murders). I limp to a safe place and the truck is just knocking something fierce, like its running on two of the 8 cylinders. Once I get pulled off to a safe place I check the edge for diagnostic cod…

So one of the upgrades to my 2005 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 2500HD Duramax LLY truck is to add the AirDog because of the great reviews. Installation instructions were not good. The pump is pretty noisy that can be very clearly heard without the motor running. Once the duramax is purring you don't hear the airdog anymore but wow is it loud otherwise. Because it sucks so much fuel, you are unable to run your tank as empty as you did before. So no waiting until the low fuel light comes on because by that point you have already stalled your truck because the Airdog doesn't have enough fuel to feed the engine (this is turned all the way counterclockwise and th…

So I used the Diablo Predator Programmer, which so many people swore by. I could easily notice a difference when I used it but typically at the cost of smoke coming out (which I don't care for unless I'm getting on it). I drove down to texas from michigan pulling my 27.5' travel trailer on the lowest setting possible and it smoked some but what it did I didn't notice until later which is the turbo got so hot it melted my firewall. The downfall to not having a way to measure the Exhaust Gas Temp's (I'll eventually get something to monitor this) My big mistake was pulling my little DJ enclosed single axle trailer my truck was pouring out some black smo…

So I love my truck which is a 2005 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 4x4 2500HD SLT but I want it to be faster and yet remain my daily driver. I was told at one time that I could go three routes with my Duramax 1. Leave it alone and enjoy the GM Engineering. (advantage: will last forever disadvantage: boring) 2. Fuel Economic Monster. You can make the duramax get really crazy mileage but sacraficing power (advantage: money saver disadvantage: boring) 3. Lightning Bolt Fast (advantage: fun, fast and shocking disadvantage: costs a lot of money and not sure how it effects the daily driving) My original thought process was to go with option #1 and get a toy to make fas…
